Rockies Storyline
By Brian on Oct 5, 2007
I remember last year when a big storyline in baseball was that the Rockies were “embracing a Christian-based code of conduct they believe will bring them focus and success.” The story was first covered by USA Today, then The Nation freaked out about it, the Rockies players disputed the original article’s accuracy in a piece in the Rocky Mountain News, and Christianity Today was iffy about it. The issue has its own section on the Rockies’ Wikipedia entry.
I haven’t seen anything about the issue this season, but for most of the year the Rockies have been out of the spotlight.
The Rockies have now won 16 of their last 17 (including the last day of the season to clinch a tie, the one-game tiebreaker against the Padres by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 13th, and the first two games of their series with the Phillies - on the road). If they make it to the NLCS or especially if they make it to the World Series, expect this story line to (wait for it) be resurrected.

Yeah, and they’ll be crucified in the national media.
