Spud Gun

I’m planning this project, a potato gun made with clear PVC pipe instead of regular white PVC. The problem is that regular PVC is available all over the place and is pretty cheap, but clear PVC is not available most places and is not at all cheap. I’ve found some places online, but they require a 10′ minimum order per size (I need 36″ of 2″ pipe for the barrel and 14″ of 3″ pipe for the firing chamber), and that order would cost almost $200.
So I’m looking for the two pieces of clear PVC I described above. If you have any clear PVC or know where I can get it (cheap is good, free is better) drop me an email or post a comment. Thanks.
And a related story, from CBS News:
Just when 17-year-old Daniel Berry’s life had found new light, he must find his way in the dark.
“It’s not right, I’m not used to being blind,” he says. “It’s a whole new world for me and not one that I would’ve chosen.”
Berry was shot in the face, looking down the barrel of a home-built contraption called a spud gun. When it fired a frog, it blinded him.
“If it would’ve been anything else it would’ve killed me,” he says.
He’s not eligible for a Darwin since he didn’t die, but come on. Looking down the barrel of an armed potato gun is stupid enough. But an armed potato gun that’s loaded with a frog?
I can’t even comprehend the thought process of loading a frog into the barrel, let alone then shoving your grill in front of it.
