Raegan got into my blue highlighter today and decided to draw on herself. I took this shot right after she woke up from falling asleep on the couch this afternoon, and she was groggy. I love this picture, because it’s so Raegan.

And it’s such a great contrast to the pristine pseudo-messiness that’s so prevalent in the hyper-cleanness that is most Christian media:

Isn’t the real real thing much better than the fake real thing?

  1. Brian - Miss you dude.

I was curious if your use of Dobson’s material was simply for the picture of “fake messiness” or if your not a big fan of the actual material.

By the way, Mia’s favorite thing to mark with has been the yellow highlighter. Fun

  2. I’m not terribly familiar with the “Essentials of Discipline” series from Dobson but all the other parenting books/materials I’ve seen from Dobson have generally been very good, so I’m sure that series is as well. I was specifically addressing the packaging, not the contents.

  3. Cool. I thought so and I totally get your point. This is a concept I am trying to get across to our teenagers. Wednesday nights we are teaching “real” community. It is such a difficult concept for teenagers to grasp but when they do…wow.

The thing I find amazing is not even really that people are this way in front of each other but rather that they feel they have to be this way with God. My honest first thought is that if you feel you have to be psuedo anything with God then you can not possibly know Him! That’s why He’s God and I am not. He accepts those who struggle with the concept of His grace and acceptance and those who are immersed in it.

We’re going to be a part of that Essentials study is why I ask. I’ll let you know how it goes.
