Charlotte Observer Dumps AP BCS Poll

Great move by the Charlotte Observer, announcing that it will no longer participate in the AP college football poll as long as it still has an impact on the BCS standings (and therefore the national title game and other bowl matchups). The decision came on the heels of a controversy caused by several Texas writers (and a few others) who moved the University of Texas up a spot over the University of California, a move that resulted in Texas going to the Rose Bowl (estimated payout: $7 to $8.5 million) and Cal to the Holiday Bowl (estimated payout: $1 million).

Perhaps even more importantly, the Observer has published its poll votes all season in an all-too-rare act of transparency.

Great move, Observer.
