Spirit of America Arabic Blogging Tool

Spirit of America, a bipartisan nonprofit that’s mission is to “to extend the goodwill of the American people to assist those advancing freedom and peace abroad” has a great new initiative called the Friend of Iraq Blogger Challenge to raise money in support of a new blogging tool in Arabic. This tool will allow regular Iraqi citizens to create citizens’ media and have their voice heard in Iraq and other Arabic nations. It’s another step in Iraq being an example of freedom in the Middle East. Some Iraqis and Iranians are already blogging, but only in English because that’s the language of current blog software. So their voice is heard in the West, which is valuable, but not heard in their own cultures where it’s critical.

Spread the word, donate, anything you can do to support this worthy cause. Thanks to Jeff Jarvis at BuzzMachine for the tip on this one.

  1. Brian, hey. I’m a reporter for the News & Record in Greensboro, and I’m working on an article about post-modern evangelism and emerging churches. I came across your blog on the site for the Greensboro Indie Allies Meetup Group. I couldn’t find contact information on your blog. If you’d be willing to talk to me for my story, please e-mail me at eashburn@news-record.com. Thanks, Elyse Ashburn
