Porn Sucks
By Brian on Nov 30, 2004
I know a lot of guys who are tormented by pornography, sexual fantasies, lust, masturbation, etc. Media is saturated with sexual images, and men are visual by nature. The “porn economy” is $12 billion annually in the US (more than the 3 major TV networks combined; more than the combined revenues of all pro football, basketball, and baseball franchises). 90% of 8-16 year olds have found porn online, usually when doing homework. More than 33% of pastors have looked at pornography recently, and many of them are addicted to it. There’s a prevailing attitude that “just looking” isn’t really cheating and “it doesn’t hurt anyone.”
Except it does. And once you’re in the trap of sexual addiction or compulsion it’s terribly difficult to get out. Here’s what Jesus said:
You know the next commandment pretty well, too: “Don’t go to bed with another’s spouse.” But don’t think you’ve preserved your virtue simply by staying out of bed. Your heart can be corrupted by lust even quicker than your body. Those leering looks you think nobody notices–they also corrupt. Let’s not pretend this is easier than it really is. If you want to live a morally pure life, here’s what you have to do: You have to blind your right eye the moment you catch it in a lustful leer. You have to choose to live one-eyed or else be dumped on a moral trash pile. - Matthew 5:27-29
The guys at XXXChurch.com know how it is and have some great tools to help. They talk openly & honestly about the issue (most churches are afraid of sex so they’re silent about it and let their people suffer silently). Craig & Mike aren’t judgemental, but they’re straight up about how dangerous pornography is and speak strongly about the need to conquer it. I want to support them however I can, and the logo & link I’ve added on the left side of this site is one way I can help.

Hey Brian,
If you’re still cool for the reprint-adspace trade you can send me a website or an ad for any particular ministry that you feel would benifit from being in our publication.
Thanks sooo much and I pray that you are well.

There should be censorship in the media. You can’t even sit and watch TV to chill anymore without seeing half-naked women (and sometimes men) prancing around. Sex isn’t used to just sell porn anymore, and it’s glorified on TV. Who needs the first amendment? I know pig porn and their corporate cohorts shouldn’t be aloud the benefit from it. Moreover, most young people perceive sex itself as a sport or game, and they’re not even good at it. Whatever happened to the days when sex was an expressive and selfless act of love between a man and a woman? We should undo the sexual revolution by having a conservative revolution, where pornographers are prosecuted and serve lengthy terms in federal prisons for their crimes against the American people. Actors, actresses, and musicians should also be made an example of for corrupting our youth. Their assets should be confiscated by the government, and redistributed to fund public education, transportation, and shelters for the homeless and battered women. Some day the people will be fed up, and these scumbags will no longer be able to hide behind the first amendment.

I respect everyones believes here, and their religious freedom too. I enjoy porn and I live a happy life. I like alcohol and prostitutes. I like being able to choose to live my life the way I want to. It’s not cool when you want to impose your moral religious beliefs on me. I shouldn’t have to compromise my life to conform to the way you want to live your life. You will simply never be able to destroy or change the world as you see fit. The two can coexist together, you just need to respect other people who believe different then you do. I could make the same argument that your religious beliefs hinder science and progress, rewrites history, puts God on the legal tender of this nation, and tells me when I can and can’t purchase alcohol. If you love God and want to worship God then good for you. I certainly don’t want to stop you or make rules telling you when you can and can’t do that. It’s when you force feed it on people that it becomes a problem. Pornography to you is like your religion to me. If I don’t want to see it or hear it I change the channel or I don’t search for it. It concerns me though when your threatening my life style choice. Why can’t you just accept the fact that there will always be things that offend you and repulse you. You have a choice nobody is telling you to watch it or see it. Why must you force your belief system on others this way.

Just my own opinions here…
First off, I don’t think banning porn is going to fix anything. We tried to ban alcohol once and that didn’t work so well. If people want something, they’ll find it. It’s the heart that needs to change. Actions are simply an expression of what is going on inside.
Secondly, I think the church is greatly responsible for this. Many of us have forsaken (or at least set to the side a little bit) the Great Commandment (to love God and others DEEPLY) for the Great Commission (to preach, baptize, etc.). We often get so caught up in our mission, that we neglect to take the time to soak in God’s love so that we can pour it out on others. If we’re not spending intimate time on a regular basis with the Father, than we’ll lack the capacity to love as He does. Once again, we can’t give what we haven’t received ourselves.
But anyway, I would strongly recommend Jack Frost’s book “Spiritual Slavery to Spiritual Sonship.”

I’d just like to congratulate the dude who wrote this article. And I’m really glad to see guys stepping up to the plate when it comes to denying porn, resisting jacking off and the like, especially if you’re a believer in God.
I’m 25 years old. I despise porn [and the like].
My husbands 21. He claims to be a believer like me, yet he goes to porn to solve his problems.
This has recently started and has created a HUGE problem within our marriage and we are growing apart because of it.
Guys, if any of you ever get married, PLEASE [if you have this problem] confess it! Then get help or counseling BEFORE hand.
I wish we did. Now I’m paying the price.
Just a tip.
p.s. nosajman, no one is imposing on you to read this article. You’re a fool.

I am a dedicated Christian and follower of Christ who used to have a porn problem. Since meeting the Lord, I have been freed of my addiction, but the temptation is still always banging on my door. Although Nosajman doesn’t have to read the article (and definitely didn’t ‘need’ to respond), I absolutely agree with him in every way. We are not being proper witnesses by cramming our value systems on others. A few years ago when I was in the pinnacle of being lost in my sin (doing drugs, having sex, watching porn, drinking alcohol, etc.), reading something like what the 80’s music guy wrote would have pushed me further into it. When you are deep into sin, you are separated from God, which, in turn, makes you closer to the devil and his temptations. He would have whispered in my ear something like, “Stupid Christians. They’re such judgmental, arrogant losers.” And I would have agreed and truly appreciated the “freedom” I perceived to have in my sin, while this “religious biggot” rants and raves and gets bent out of shape about my friends and I “having a little fun.” Taking this approach to non-believers simply does not work, but in fact does the opposite. If you want to be a witness, we need to show love. Obviously things like porn and drugs and alcohol totally destroy us. Obviously sin sucks. Obviously we, as believers, don’t want to see other humans get wrapped up in it and hurt themselves… but we need to respond in love, in faith, to let the Holy Spirit convict the hearts of those who are lost in sin. It is not our job to do it for Him. Anyway, just my two cents. God bless you all. And if you’re a non-believer and want to hear why I became a Christian after almost a decade of sex, drugs and rocknroll, I’d love to tell you my story. I was the singer of a rock band, doin’ drugs and doin’ chicks. I was “running Satan’s errands” as it says in the Bible. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. It is all real and is nothing to laugh at. I used to rip on Christians and make fun of people who talked about Jesus. If you’re searching, drop me an email. There is no such thing as “religion”; there is only the truth… and that truth is not found in “Christianity”, but is found in JESUS CHRIST, our only Saviour. I know it sounds preachy, but I encourage you to drop me an email. I’ll give you my phone number if you want, and we can talk. He is wonderful, and I’d love to tell you about Him. He has revolutionized my life and can do the same for you! deansurfsutube at gmail dot com Peace
