Vertical Discrimination

This is depressing…

Tall people earn considerably more money throughout their lives than their shorter coworkers, with each inch adding about $789 a year in pay, according to a new study. “Height matters for career success,” said Timothy Judge, a University of Florida moanagement professor whose research will appear in the spring issue of the Journal of Applied Psychology. “These findings are troubling in that, witha few exceptions such as professional basketball, no one could argue that height is an essential ability required for job performance nor a bona fide occupational qualification.”

At $789 per year per inch, I would have earned $37,872 more in the past 8 years if I were 5′11″ instead of 5′5″.

I might not be blogging much over the next few days; I’ll be tied up in meetings with my lawyer about the vertical discrimination suits I’m filing against Vigo County Schools, Alamance-Burlington School System, OnePlace.com, and Elon University for back pay plus interest and $30 million in pain-and-suffering damages.
