I’ve added even more links

I’ve added even more links over on the right. The more blogs I find the more I like and want to recomment. I just added PagittBlog, by Doug Pagitt of EmergentVillage.org. Lots of good stuff about the community he leads, Solomon’s Porch.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately (aided by good writers and friends, some of whom are linked over on the right) about the nature of God. Our study of Obadiah in our Tuesday night group has furthered my thinking, but I still don’t know if I’m any closer to an answer. I keep troubling over the seemingly contradictory images of God shown in the Old Testament and the New Testament. That’s really too simplistic, because God displays both wrath and tenderness in both testaments….however, it does seem that wrath prevails in the OT and tenderness prevails in the NT.

So how do we resolve these seemingly conflicting images? Or is it our modernity that causes me to want to resolve the images? Can we continue along the journey with a “conflicting” (ie complex) image of God without having to resolve that conflict? Don’t we all have internal conflict? Isn’t it possible that from our perspective we will always see conflicting images of God? Maybe it’s because our vision is so myopic and we only see “wrath” when maybe what we call wrath because of our fear is really a terrifying level of love from God? Or maybe it really is (justified) wrath. Like our study of Obadiah the other night, I’ve now gone in circles without reaching a resolution. And I think (for now at least) I like it that way.
