A Million Miles in a Thousand Years
A Million Miles in a Thousand Years has stuck with me longer than I thought it would. I read it several months ago, and while I enjoyed the read my overwhelming impression was that it was great for a single guy with plenty of disposable time & income like Miller to go on a cross-country bike ride or climb Machu Picchu, but it didn’t really translate to a guy like me scraping by with four kids and one income at an 8-5 desk job.
But the book stuck with me, and Miller’s concept of creating my life through the lens of the elements of a great story (a character who wants something and overcomes conflict to get it) has stuck with me.
So much so that it’s already made an impact on how I’m living my life, and I’m planning on reading it again soon.

I couldn’t agree with you more on this. I just finished it a few weeks ago. Blue Like Jazz was great, but the tone and maturity of this book has led me to claim this the better of the two. I will be reading it again as well…in the meantime, I will try to live a better story.
